In '84 I started designing clothes, using fluorescent spray painted mesh, leather strips and the shells of hats. I sold them on this one occasion at an Alternative Art Fair, and photographed everyone who bought my pieces. A very young girl convinced her father to buy her a vest and hat. As she left, someone said, "Didn't you know, that was "Nick Auf der Maur's daughter! You should have photographed HIM!" Nick was a well-known and highly eccentric journalist and politician in Montreal, whom I later did PHOTOGRAPH for a magazine article. I now have no idea who this girl really is though, as Melissa recently told a friend it ISN'T her. "

Linda Dawn Hammond continues to work as a photojournalist, specializing in music, cinema, art and politics. As a fine arts photographer, she has exhibited in galleries in North America and the UK, and published widely.
